Our standards

Every page on this site should help you make a better decision, whether or not that decision is to buy. That means being accurate, separating evidence from marketing, and being clear about what we don't know.

How we research

  1. The label first. We base ingredient information on the Supplement Facts panel, not sales copy. Where sellers' claims contradict the label, we say so.
  2. Primary and official sources. For ingredient evidence, we rely on human clinical research and on summaries from bodies such as the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health and the Linus Pauling Institute. We link to sources on each page.
  3. Seller terms. Pricing, shipping and refund details come from the official checkout and published policies, with the date we checked.
  4. Public records. For complaints and legitimacy, we check the Better Business Bureau, Trustpilot and similar sites, and we disregard affiliate content presented as independent reviews.

How we rate evidence

We use a three-level scale for each ingredient:

  • Moderate human evidence: several controlled human trials pointing the same way for a relevant outcome.
  • Limited human evidence: a few small or mixed human studies, or studies in a related but different situation.
  • Little or no evidence: lab or animal research only, or nothing relevant to breathing.

We don't award a higher rating because a product uses many ingredients, has a well-produced sales page or pays a higher commission.

Health content

We write for a general audience and avoid medical claims the evidence doesn't support. Every product page carries the FDA supplement disclaimer and tells readers when to seek medical care. [IF APPLICABLE: Health content is reviewed by [REVIEWER NAME, CREDENTIALS]. Reviewed pages show the reviewer's name and review date.]

Testimonials and reviews

Customer stories published by the brand are labeled as such and shown as supplied. We don't edit them, we don't invent them, and we don't present them as evidence. We follow the FTC's guidance on endorsements and testimonials.

Independence from advertisers

We earn affiliate commissions, explained in our affiliate disclosure. The brand and the retailer have no input into our content and don't see pages before they're published. We don't accept payment for ratings, and we include the drawbacks of any product we cover.

Updates and corrections

We review each page at least every [3] months and whenever prices, the label or the refund terms change. The "last updated" date reflects meaningful changes, not cosmetic edits. If you find an error, tell us. We aim to respond within [5] business days and correct confirmed errors promptly.

Use of AI tools

We may use AI tools to help draft or organize content. Every page is checked by a person against the label, the seller's terms and the cited sources before publication, and a person is responsible for everything we publish.
